OUR PURPOSE

The Downtown Soup Kitchen exists to demonstrate God’s heart for the hungry and homeless in Anchorage, Alaska by:

  • Providing a full stomach and a hand up
  • Meeting basic needs
  • Assisting people in moving forward and introducing them to the life-changing power of Jesus Christ
  • Utilizing the gifts and talents and compassion of followers throughout our city — doing together what we cannot do alone.

DSK, located between 4th and 5th Avenues off Eagle Street, serves a lunch of soup and sandwiches to Anchorage’s homeless and working poor Monday through Friday year-round. In addition to a hot meal, the DSK provides personalized backpacks filled with useful gifts at Christmas, emergency clothing all year and the perrsonal touch of countless volunteers who invest in the lives of our clients.
